چکیده
Methemoglobinemia (MetHb) is an uncommon cause of central cyanosis and hence, not frequently considered in the differential diagnosis. Methemoglobin abnormal form hemoglobin which produced physiologically due to autooxidation. If this process autooxidation disturbed, either genetic or exogeneous drugs/toxins, its level rises blood leading tissue hypoxia. It causes when exceeds 3%. We present case a 19-year-old male patient who was diagnosed with methemoglobinemia use dapsone for acne vulgaris. Our emphasizes significance detailed history taking, knowledge high index suspicion drug-induced methemoglobinemia.

Benzocaine-Induced Methemoglobinemia: A Case Report.
Topical anesthetics, such as benzocaine, have been reported to cause methemoglobinemia, in which hemoglobin is unable to release oxygen effectively to body tissues. The pathophysiology, symptoms, and treatment of a 46-year-old patient are examined.

Background: Clopidogrel is an effective anti-platelet drug that is commonly prescribed for patients with atherosclerotic coronary and peripheral vascular diseases, especially after angioplasty and coronary artery bypass graft surgery. Even though this drug seems safe, there are case reports of important side effects with its use. Case Presentation: The patient was 67 years old male admitted wi...
متن کاملDrug-induced methemoglobinemia.
The normal presentation of a patient with a drug induced methemoglobinemia is a low pulse oximetry (SpO2) reading, usually in the mid 80% range, while having a very high PaO2 on an arterial blood gas (ABG)1. We present a case where the initial ABG showed a very high PaO2 and a metabolic alkalosis while the SpO2 fluctuated (85% 99%). Those findings combined with hemodynamic instability complicat...
متن کاملA Case Report of Prilocaine-Induced Methemoglobinemia after Liposuction Procedure
Prilocaine-induced methemoglobinemia is a rarely seen condition. In this paper, a case is presented with methemoglobinemia developed secondary to prilocaine use in a liposuction procedure, and the importance of this rarely seen condition is emphasized. A 20-year-old female patient presented with complaints of prostration, lassitude, shivering, shortness of breath, and cyanosis. It was learned t...
متن کاملBenzocaine and lidocaine induced methemoglobinemia after bronchoscopy: a case report
INTRODUCTION Methemoglobinemia is a rare cause of hypoxemia, characterized by abnormal levels of oxidized hemoglobin that cannot bind to and transport oxygen. CASE PRESENTATION A 62-year-old male underwent bronchoscopy where lidocaine oral solution and Hurricaine spray (20% benzocaine) were used. He developed central cyanosis and his oxygen saturation was 85% via pulse oximetry. An arterial b...
